Things are finally falling in to place!

Got my Oz working visa sorted through STA… I seen Rachel in the Cardiff branch who was real helpful!

Backpack bought and fitted…thanks to the manager in Mountain Hardware in McCarther Glen Outlet in Bridgend, would highly recommend going there. My back pack is a 75l one with all the extras you could want including a water proof cover. Had it in the sale for £65 down from £120!

Where we are staying for the first few nights in Bangkok is still in discussion how ever we have booked our first trip!! We are doing the Cambodia Basix 13 day trip with Intrepid Travel, I copied the itinerary below, its sounds wicked and I cant wait to get there now.

Day 1 Bangkok

Bangkok welcomes with exotic markets, weaving tuk-tuks, slow-going longtail boats and serene temples. Shop up a storm, enjoy a soothing massage or savour the many flavours of Thai cuisine.

Days 2-4 Siem Reap/ Angkor Wat

Don’t miss the extraordinary temples of Angkor – they’re just a short tuk-tuk ride away. Perhaps also consider a trip to Tonle Sap Lake or peruse Siem Reap’s markets for a trinket or two.

Day 5 Kompong Cham

Enjoy the fusion of frontier charm and French-colonial character. Stroll the streets to admire the faded European architecture or hire a bike to explore rustic surrounds. Perhaps head a little further afield to learn the legends of the nearby mountain temples.

Day 6 Homestay

Travel further into the Cambodian countryside to a village homestay. Staying with a friendly local family, this is a unique opportunity to experience everyday rural life and to enjoy a homemade meal.

Days 7-9 Sihanoukville

Find a spot on the secluded beaches which fringe Sihanoukville or take a boat trip out to nearby idyllic islands. If mangrove forests, monkeys and exotic birds appeal, head to the Ream National Park for a boat safari.

Days 10-11 Phnom Penh

Find graphic reminders of the country’s tragic history in the bone-chilling Tuol Sleng Museum, filled with black-and-white photographs of Pol Pot’s prisoners. Gain insight into brighter times in the shimmering Silver Pagoda.

Days 12-13 Ho Chi Minh City

The adventure comes to an end amid swarms of motorbikes and street stalls in Ho Chi Minh City.

Thats all for now, should have my first few days booked sometime this week so will update again soon.

Merry Christmas

Hi! Don’t really know how to start this as it’s my first blog but here goes…

My name is Mike or Micky to my mates I’m 20 and from Cardiff. In January I leave to travel the world for the next few months (route below) At the moment it’s booked to take around 8 months but it’s an open ticket so could take me up to a year.

The route -

London – Thailand – Australia – New Zealand – Fiji – America – London

I’ve agreed to keep this blog as part of a STA Travel project that’s aim is to inspire other people to take the step and see the world, see www.statravelbuzz.co.uk for more info.

That’s all for now but I will be back soon when I will explain the first few months in more detail. I’ve attached a pic of my girlfriend and I taken skiing earlier this year.
